The Rockets were led by the over powering play of Hakeem Olajuwon. In the Finals, Olajuwon averaged 32.8 points and 11.5 rebounds in the four game sweep over the Magic. Due to his performance, Olajuwon was named the NBA Finals MVP for the second consecutive year. Midway through the season the Rockets acquired Clyde Drexler, Olajuwon's old University of Houston teammate. Clyde `The Glide' Drexler, who helped lead the Trailblazers to two NBA Finals, assisted Olajuwon in helping Houston repeat as champions.
